1. Scope of this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how TutorAI Marketplace ("we", "us", "the platform") collects, uses, stores, and protects the personal data of tutors who teach on our platform. It applies whenever you create a tutor account, build a public profile, list services, deliver lessons, and receive payouts through the platform.

2. Information we collect
Account information
When you register as a tutor, we collect your name, email address, password (stored as a one-way hash), and phone number if provided. Your public tutor profile can include a headline, bio, specializations, teaching style, years of experience, hourly rate, a photo, and optional intro video or audio.
Verification information
Where identity verification is required before you can accept bookings, we collect the minimum information needed to confirm your identity and eligibility to teach. This is used solely for verification and platform trust & safety, and is not published on your profile.
Lesson data
We store records of the lessons you deliver — student, subject, service, scheduled time, status, lesson plans, quizzes, and homework you create (including AI-generated content), and any files or notes attached to a lesson.
Video lessons
Live lessons run through an embedded video classroom. We record technical join/leave events for lesson history and support purposes. See "Lesson recordings" below for our recording-specific policy.
Chat messages
Messages exchanged with students through the platform's messaging feature are stored so both parties can refer back to the conversation.
File uploads
Files you upload as part of a lesson, or as your profile photo/intro media, are stored via our file storage provider.
Cookies & analytics
Same as described in our Student Privacy Policy — strictly necessary cookies only, no third-party advertising cookies.
3. Tutor profile visibility
Your public tutor profile — name, photo, headline, bio, specializations, rating, and hourly rate — is visible to anyone browsing the platform, including logged-out visitors, so students can evaluate you before booking. Your email address, phone number, and any verification documents are never shown publicly. You control what appears in your bio, specializations, and intro media through your profile settings.
4. Earnings information
We record your completed bookings, the commission applied, and your resulting payout amount, so you can track your earnings from your dashboard. Earnings figures are visible only to you and, where necessary for support or dispute resolution, platform administrators. We do not publish your earnings or income on your public profile.
5. Lesson recordings
By default, lessons are not recorded. If the platform's recording feature is enabled by an administrator, recording only occurs on a self-hosted video configuration with the appropriate infrastructure — never silently, and never on the public video mode. Where recording is enabled for your lessons, students will be informed before joining. If you plan to record lessons for your own teaching records, you must obtain the student's (or their guardian's) consent first, in line with your "Professional responsibilities" below.
6. Student communications
Messages and lesson communications with your students are stored on the platform to maintain a record for both parties and for support purposes if a dispute arises. Please keep all lesson-related communication with students on-platform, and do not request or share personal contact details as a way to move the relationship off-platform, which is against our Terms & Conditions.
7. Professional responsibilities
As a tutor handling student data (messages, lesson notes, contact through video lessons), you agree to:
- Only use student information for the purpose of delivering lessons and related support
- Never share a student's personal information with third parties
- Obtain consent before recording any lesson yourself
- Report any suspected data breach or student safety concern to us immediately
- Comply with applicable data protection law in how you handle any student information you access through the platform
8. How we use your information

- To match you with suitable students and process bookings
- To calculate commission, earnings, and process payouts
- To provide AI-assisted lesson planning, quiz, and homework tools
- To communicate with you about bookings, payouts, and platform updates
- To maintain platform trust, safety, and security
- To comply with our legal and tax obligations
9. Third-party services
We rely on the same third-party services described in our Student Privacy Policy — AI providers, the video classroom provider, our file storage provider, and payment/payout gateways. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
10. Payment processing
Your payout information (e.g. gateway account details) is collected directly by our payment gateway partners to process payouts — we do not store full financial account credentials on our servers. We retain a record of each payout transaction for your earnings history and for tax and accounting purposes.
11. Data retention
We retain your account, profile, and earnings data for as long as your account is active, and for [retention period, e.g. 7 years for financial records] after account closure to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations, particularly regarding completed payment transactions.
12. Your rights (GDPR-ready)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar protections, you have the right to access, rectify, erase (subject to legal retention requirements), restrict, port, and object to the processing of your data, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in "Contact for privacy requests" below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30 days).
13. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), CSRF protection, and access controls limiting staff access to what's needed to provide support.
14. Account deletion
You may request deletion of your tutor account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us. We will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable timeframe, except records we're required to retain for legal, tax, or accounting purposes (e.g. completed payout records). Deleting your account will cancel any upcoming lessons — please notify your students beforehand.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and notify you by email or an in-app notice for material changes.
